| O Alto-Médio São Francisco, inserido no bioma caatinga, está localizado na porção norte do estado de Minas, região semi-árida, marcada por uma distribuição muito irregular das chuvas no correr do ano. Esta região é alvo de projetos de irrigação, interessados principalmente nas águas do São Francisco, e na de seus principais afluentes. | O presente estudo tem como tema a gestão das águas, que se tornam cada vez mais escassas, o que acaba por desencadear conflitos entre os diferentes usuários. Diante dessa situação, essa pesquisa objetivou estudar os problemas e conflitos mais freqüentes relacionados à água nos rios do Médio São Francisco, em Minas Gerais, especificamente nos rios Verde Grande, Riachão e Jequitaí, verificando em quais situações essas questões culminam na formalização de Comitês de Bacias Hidrográficas e em que medida estes conseguem enfrentar tais questões. | The production costs for dairy milk in the southern region of the state of Minas Gerais are presented in this study. This research identifies economic indexes of costs that most influence decisions made by milk producers. The research is based on the theory of costs and the study location was the southern region of the state of Minas Gerais, where data on the 12 milk production units were gathered from March of 2000 to February of 2001, characterizing a multicase study. The economic analysis proved that milk prices were below average total cost but exceeded average variable cost. | A spreadsheet featuring production costs for coffee in different productivity ranges is presented in this study. The survey is based on the theory of costs and the study location was the southern region of the state of Minas Gerais, where data on 48 coffee production units were gathered during the 1998/99 harvest. Taking the economical indexes resulting from research into consideration, one may infer that expenses on variable resources represent the greater portion of the final cost of coffee. The items which affected production costs the most were crop formation, in the case of unvariable costs, and the expenses on labor, especially the seasonal kind. | This present work compares the can and the bulk milk transportation systems in the first run, taking into consideration the economical cost indexes, leveling point, optimization of routes and the forms of payment for the freight. The study was carried out at a milk receptor company in the western side of Minas Gerais and the optimization model was based on the Vehicles Path Vertices Problem ( PPV ). The SisGRAFO software was used. In the analysis operational deficiencies in the bulk milk transportation system were verified, as well as deficiencies in the remuneration of the carters and in the optimization of routes. The adoption of a system which rewards the carter per transported volume instead of traveled distance comes as a suggestion. |

| This study was carried out with the objective of characterizing the market structure and the commercialization of dairy products in the district of Lavras, MG, Brazil. For such study, agents were identified, their market conduct, and the prices paid and received were analyzed, as well as the volume of sales in the different market segments.
